Servicing a school bus is just one of the many preparations that must be made before the school year begins for both Forest City and West Hancock Community Schools.

A Titonka man was killed in a one-vehicle crash near Algona early Tuesday. Kelly Joe Goosmann, 37, driver of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Kossuth County Sheriff's Department.
